21 Member Countries of the APEC

The Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) is a regional economic forum composed of 21 member countries. With a combined GDP of over US$44 trillion, APEC member economies represent around 60% of the world’s GDP. Here are the names of the 21 member countries of APEC:

First Group of Countries:

The first group of APEC member countries consists of Australia, Brunei Darussalam, Canada, Chile, China, Hong Kong (China), Indonesia, Japan, Republic of Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Peru, the Philippines, Russia, Singapore, Chinese Taipei, Thailand, and the United States. All of these countries are located in the Asia-Pacific region and form the backbone of the APEC organization. They participate in all APEC meetings as full members and share the common goal of promoting free and open trade and investment in the region.

Second Group of Countries:

The second group of APEC member countries is made up of three member economies that joined the organization in the 1990s. They are: Vietnam, which became a member in 1998; and Russia and Peru, which both joined in 1998. These three countries have made significant progress in economic development and are actively involved in APEC’s work. Although they are considered developing countries, they are able to contribute to APEC’s programs and initiatives and help shape the organization’s future direction.

Third Group of Countries:

The third group of APEC member countries is made up of one member economy: Papua New Guinea. Papua New Guinea joined APEC in 1993 and has since been an active and valued participant in the organization’s work. Although it is a small and developing economy, Papua New Guinea has a wealth of natural resources and potential for economic growth. As an APEC member, it has access to valuable information and technical assistance to help it develop its economy and improve the lives of its citizens.
